Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how UK Member Benefits Guide ("we", "us", "our", "this site") handles information about visitors to nationwide-fairer-share.pages.dev. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Information we collect
We aim to collect as little personal information as possible. We do not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal details to read any guide on this site.
The following information is automatically processed when you visit:
- Server access data — IP address, browser type, referring URL, page accessed, and timestamp. This is logged by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for the purposes of delivering the page, mitigating malicious traffic, and maintaining service reliability.
- Aggregate visit statistics — pages viewed, country-level location, and visit duration may be visible to us in aggregate through hosting analytics. These do not identify individual visitors.
- Behavioural analytics via Microsoft Clarity — anonymised information about how visitors interact with the site, including mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and session replay. Clarity automatically masks personal data entered into forms (the site has no input forms). IP addresses captured by Clarity are anonymised. Clarity uses this data to help us understand which guides are useful and where readers lose interest.
We do not embed marketing pixels, advertising trackers, or social-media widgets that profile visitors across other sites.
How we use information
The limited information we receive is used solely for the following purposes:
- Delivering the requested page to your device
- Maintaining the security and operational integrity of the site
- Understanding which guides are most read so we can prioritise updates and new topics
- Identifying technical problems (for example, error pages or broken links)
We do not sell, share, or transfer visitor data to third parties for marketing or profiling purposes.
Cookies
This site uses the following cookies:
- Essential operational cookies — set by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security, DDoS protection, and core site delivery. These are strictly necessary and do not require separate consent under PECR.
- Analytics cookies — set by Microsoft Clarity to recognise returning visitors and stitch together session interactions for analytical purposes. These cookies expire automatically (typically within 12 months) and do not identify you personally to us.
If you do not wish Clarity to collect this information, you can block the script using a privacy-focused browser extension (such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger), enable "Do Not Track" in your browser, or use private browsing mode. We do not currently display a cookie consent banner because the analytics in use are anonymised and not used for advertising; if regulatory guidance changes or we add additional tracking, we will introduce a consent mechanism.
Third-party services
The following third parties may receive limited technical information about your visit:
- Cloudflare — our hosting provider. Cloudflare receives your IP address and request data in order to serve the page. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — used to analyse anonymised site usage and session behaviour. Clarity is operated by Microsoft and is subject to Microsoft's data protection practices. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement for details on how Clarity handles data.
- Search engines — if you click through from a search engine, that engine may have its own data about your search query, separate from this site.
If you contact us by email, the email service provider you use and ours will process the message. We retain editorial correspondence only for as long as needed to handle the query and any follow-up.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding personal information that may relate to you:
- Right of access — to know what information we hold about you
- Right to rectification — to correct inaccurate information
- Right to erasure — to ask us to delete information about you
- Right to restrict processing — to limit how we use your information
- Right to object — to object to certain types of processing
- Right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)
Given that we do not collect identifying personal data directly, in practice most of these rights apply only to email correspondence you initiate with us. To exercise any right, contact editorial@nationwide-fairer-share.pages.dev.
Data retention
Server access logs held by our hosting provider are typically retained for a short period (a few days to a few weeks) and then aggregated or deleted in line with Cloudflare's own retention practices. Editorial correspondence is retained for up to twelve months unless deletion is requested sooner.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle visitor data — for example, adding analytics or changing hosting providers — we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date at the top. Substantive changes will be flagged at the top of the document for a reasonable period.
